Every autumn a delivery of Cody Foster arrives at the shop, and the unpacking takes twice as long as it should because everyone stops to pass pieces around. There is always one that makes the whole room laugh, one that nobody can quite believe exists, and two or three that we know will be gone before December. That is the brand in a sentence. Glass ornaments with a sense of humour, built around pop culture, food, characters and the odd moment of genuine beauty. No other line we carry gets people talking at the tree the way this one does. Which Cody Foster ornaments should you hang first this year? These are the twelve pieces we would hang first this year: nine new designs and three that customers keep coming back for. Shop Cody Foster ornaments → The Short Answer Our favourite Cody Foster ornaments for 2026 are the Benson Boone, Barefoot Contessa, Pee Wee Herman and Miranda Priestly for pop culture fans; the Forest Gnome and Tomte Gnome for a woodland tree; the Mac & Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza for food lovers; the Friendly Monsters, Little Devil and Jeweled Lovers Eye for something unexpected; and the Blingy Dreidel for Hanukkah. All twelve are glass, most sit between twenty and twenty-seven dollars, and the popular designs sell through before Christmas. Last year several of our best-sellers were gone by mid-December. What Makes a Cody Foster Ornament Cody Foster & Co. is based in Valentine, Nebraska, and Cody Foster has been designing ornaments for more than twenty years. The work is recognisable at ten paces: glass bodies, bright paint, generous glitter, and a subject nobody else would have thought to put on a tree. The subjects are the point. A box of macaroni, a tin of butter cookies, a celebrity chef. Each piece is hand-finished, so no two are quite identical, and the paint and glitter are applied heavily enough to read from across a room. That makes them a good fit for a tree people walk past rather than one they study up close, though the detail rewards a second look too. They are also glass, which matters when you hang them. More on that below. The Pop Culture Picks Celebrity ornaments are what Cody Foster is best known for, and they are what customers ask for by name. The trick to a pop culture tree is mixing generations: one piece the teenagers will recognise, one for the parents, one for the grandparents. Cody Foster Benson Boone Glass Ornament: new this year; sparkly light-blue jacket, mustache and necklace Cody Foster Barefoot Contessa Ornament: five inches of glittered glass for the friend who hosts every holiday dinner Cody Foster Pee Wee Herman Glass Ornament: one of our top Cody Foster sellers last year, sold out before Christmas, and back in stock Cody Foster Miranda Priestly Ornament: for fans of The Devil Wears Prada, and anyone who has ever had a demanding boss You will find more famous faces in our celebrity ornaments collection, from musicians to film stars. The Woodland Pair Not every Cody Foster piece is a joke. The two gnomes this year are simply lovely, and they bring warmth to a tree built around natural colours, wood and red. Cody Foster Forest Gnome Ornament: six inches tall, green coat, golden glittered cap, perched on a red-and-white spotted mushroom Cody Foster Tomte Gnome Ornament: the bearded Nordic gnome of Swedish folklore, with a red hat and a walking staff The Forest Gnome is one of the larger ornaments in the range, so give him a sturdy branch near the trunk. The pair also works well tucked into a mantel garland, where the size is an advantage rather than a weight problem. Related Products The Food Ornaments Food is Cody Foster’s other great subject, and this year’s two new pieces are pure comfort. Cody Foster Mac & Cheese Ornament: a bright blue box of macaroni and cheese, rendered in glass with complete seriousness Cody Foster Pepperoni Pizza Ornament: golden crust, red pepperoni, and an easy gift to tuck into a stocking Hang the two together and you have a comfort-food corner of the tree. If food ornaments are your thing, our guide to Cody Foster food ornaments has thirty more, from brie to caviar. The Unexpected Ones Every good Cody Foster tree needs a few pieces that make people stop and ask what they are looking at. Cody Foster Friendly Monster Green Ornament: round glass monster with tall red horns, wide eyes and bead accents, playful rather than spooky Cody Foster Friendly Monster Blue Ornament: the same design in blue; buy the set of three colours and hang them together Cody Foster Friendly Monster Pink Ornament: the pink one, which completes the trio Cody Foster Little Devil Ornament: two and a half inches of mischief: red hood, tiny horns, rosy cheeks and a sly grin Cody Foster Jeweled Lovers Eye Ornament: inspired by the painted lover’s-eye miniatures worn as jewellery in the late 1700s, with a gold-toned frame and purple jewels The Lovers Eye is the quiet surprise of the year. It is small and genuinely elegant, and it sits as happily on a vintage-style tree as on a quirky one. For Hanukkah More of our customers celebrate both holidays than ever, and Cody Foster has made two pieces this year that belong on that tree. Cody Foster Blingy Dreidel Ornament: three inches of gold shimmer and multicoloured gem accents Cody Foster Latkes Ornament: the new companion piece, for anyone who has ever argued about applesauce versus sour cream There is more in our Hanukkah collection. Still on Our Tree: The 2024 Favourites Our 2024 list is still a crowd-pleaser, and most of those pieces are still available. Cluster ornaments by theme (food on one side, music on another, the woodland pieces low and near the trunk), and then put one surprise into each group. That surprise is what makes people walk round the tree a second time. Hang glass on strong branches. These are glass ornaments, and some of them are heavy for their size. Hang the larger pieces close to the trunk where the branches are sturdiest, use a secure hook or ribbon, and keep the most fragile pieces higher up if you have young children or pets. Our guide to glass vs shatterproof ornaments covers this in more detail. Do not fill every branch. A Cody Foster tree works best with some breathing room. Twenty good pieces with space around them beat sixty crammed together. Take the look beyond the tree. Cody Foster also makes glass Christmas trees and putz-style Christmas houses, so the same style can carry onto a mantel or a side table. Buying Cody Foster as a Gift This is where the brand comes into its own. An ornament that says something about the person (the friend who quotes the same film every Christmas, the brother who lives on pizza, the aunt who is a better cook than anyone on television) means more than a generic bauble, and it comes out of the box every December for years. Most Cody Foster ornaments sit between fifteen and twenty-seven dollars, which makes them an easy stocking filler, Secret Santa gift or hostess present. Caring for Cody Foster Ornaments Glass ornaments last for decades if they are packed properly, and Cody Foster pieces are worth the effort because the paint and glitter are part of what you paid for. Keep the original boxes. They are sized to each ornament, and nothing improvised protects a delicate shape as well. If a box has gone, wrap the piece in acid-free tissue rather than newspaper, which transfers onto light paintwork over time. Store the boxes somewhere climate-stable (an interior cupboard rather than a hot attic or a damp basement), because heat softens the glue that holds glitter and damp lifts paint. When you take them down, handle them by the cap rather than the body, and dust them with a soft, dry brush before they go back in the box. Never use a damp cloth on glitter. When to Buy Earlier than feels necessary. Cody Foster ornaments are made in limited quantities, and the popular designs sell through. Last year a number of our best-selling Cody Foster pieces were gone by mid-December, and once a design sells out we often cannot get more during the season. If there is one piece on this list you want, buy that one now. The rest will still be there in November. The one everybody wants will not.
