DC Designs by Jim Shore - Man of Steel

After WW2, stories about superheroes began to see a decline, but during The Silver Age of comics (1956 - circa 1970) superheroes claimed new fame after DC comics decided to reimagine their stories from the ground up.

Born on Krypton as Kal-El, the son to Jor-El and planetary leader and scientist. When Kal-El is a toddler his father learns that Krypton is doomed and begins working on a way to save his family from the destruction. Before he could finish his ship, Jar-El and his wife had to send Kal-El to Earth to save him. Kal-El’s ship lands in Smallville where Jonathan and Martha Kent discover the toddler. The Kent’s adopt the young child, naming him Clark and later discovering his superpowers and encouraging him to use them constructively. By the age of eight, Clark had become known as Superboy and then as he grew older, Superman. Protecting Smallville, and Earth from villains of the universe, he later partners with other superheroes to found The Justice League of America.
